Corporate Partnerships and Community Involvement
NAWN’s involvement in our community runs deep. Over the course of the 20 years since NAWN’s inception, our members have assisted or started programs which include:
– NA Scholar Author Series
– NA Community Garden
– NA Fourth of July Run
– NA Public Library Homework Help Center
– NA Special Olympics
– Battle for 161 Lacrosse Event benefitting the Stephanie Spielman Fund
– Safety Town
– Village Coalition Against Hunger
Since 2000, NAWN has raised $ 1,060.868 for the beneficiaries of our Annual Charity Fashion Show and An Evening in New Albany charitable events. We are proud to have supported 27 different beneficiaries as well as having increased the level of our own endowment which continues to support local programs.
For the past ten years, NAWN has had a holiday gift drive for children who would normally not receive anything. In the past eight years, these toys and clothes have been solely for children within the New Albany schools. Over these eight years, 230 families and 934 children have benefitted from the generosity of our community through the Make Holiday Magic Christmas drive.
Neighborhood Outreach is a program which supports the community by providing meals to families in need due to illness, death, a new baby, or any other life event. Members may recommend meal recipients regardless of whether they are NAWN member and any member may ask for assistance. In a normal year between 50 – 100 meals will be provided to anyone within the New Albany community – member of NAWN or not.
Our scholarship program awards scholarships each year to two deserving New Albany seniors. This year Manasa Akella and Ariana Wilson received $2,000 each to assist their college dreams.
