President’s Message

Happy New Year! I know January is traditionally a time we look to the year ahead, but I would be seriously remiss if I did not revisit a recent OUTSTANDING accomplishment of NAWN’s. This year’s giving drive, “Make Holiday Magic” was a resounding success! NAWN members and their friends, neighbors and family were able to provide holiday joy to 87 children from 35 local families that met government guidelines for assistance. We were also able to fill wishes and provide assistance such as grocery and gas cards to the parents of these children. I truly wish that each of you had had the opportunity to see the boxes, upon boxes, UPON BOXES of toys and gifts. It literally brought me to tears on multiple occasions.

I would like to thank Charitable Projects Chair Michelle Murphy for the endless hours she put into this. IT WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN A SUCCESS WITHOUT HER. She managed the list with her heart and soul, and we all owe her a round of applause and endless gratitude. I also want to thank all of the incredibly generous members who donated the gifts, helped us find others to donate gifts, and when we still had needs stepped up and donated some more. Special thanks goes to the SWANS who so generously gave us the cash to fulfill the unfilled items and Katharine Elliot and Tailfeather’s Boutique for donating a special surprise for each mom on the list. And of course we owe a big shout out to Kate Thomas and New Albany Realty for being the best darn drop off point we could ever ask for. Thanks to one and all. WE MADE HOLIDAY MAGIC!

Let’s all try and keep the good going! Mark your calendar for NAWN’s Annual Open House which will be Thursday, January 19th at the McCoy. This is a great time to reconnect, learn about what we have going on, and, of course, enjoy a great girl’s night out! Be sure and bring a friend or two!

See you there!
