Committee Descriptions

Book Clubs - NAWN offers Book Clubs as a way to get together with other NAWN members in an intellectual and social setting. Several of the clubs have openings and we are always looking to help start a new one!

Playgroups - Do you have a child under five and want something fun to do with others like yourself? Meet other great kids and moms in our playgroups. Our playgroups meet every week at various locations.

Neighborhood Outreach - Neighborhood Outreach Program supports the New Albany community by providing meals to families in a time of need due to illness, death or a new baby. The Neighborhood Outreach Program provides a meaningful way for you to get involved with NAWN and help our neighbors and friends in their time of sorrow or joy.

Business Connections - Business Connections is a NAWN special interest group serving our membership for networking, learning, sharing and growing your business – be it large or small. Whether you have a business address or a home office, whether you provide professional services or retail therapy, you are invited to connect with other business women like yourself.

SWANs – SWANs, Sustainer Women as Neighbors, is a special interest group for women who still want to “network”, but on a different scale than other interest groups within NAWN. Most of the members have already raised children, had or have careers, and volunteered many hours both in New Albany as well as the greater communities of Columbus and beyond. The focus of the group is mostly social. The members of SWANs plan monthly activities which are very diverse. They have included home tours, museum exhibits, cooking demonstrations, movie outings, tea parties, pool parties and so much more. SWANs is open to any woman who would like to explore Columbus while making and nurturing friendships and most importantly, having a good time!

Social Committee - The NAWN Social Committee will work together to execute all 2011 social events. A fun committee and a great way to get involved, NAWN hosts one social per month, ranging from in-home socials to on-site events. We hope to provide “something for everyone” so we planned a variety of events for the upcoming year to ensure we capture the likes of our members.

Fashion Show - The 12th Annual Spring Fashion Show is scheduled for March 12th at the New Albany Country Club. We are looking to make this year’s event the most successful one yet, so please contact us if you can lend some of your time to a great cause.

“An Evening in New Albany” - NAWN’s 12th Annual “An Evening in New Albany” is in the planning stages and proves to be another exciting event! This is one of NAWN most exciting and it’s largest philanthropic event. Committees are being formed for this event and many hands are needed to make it a great success. If this is something that might interest you, plan on providing a helping hand to such a wonderful cause.

Volunteering - Throughout the year NAWN participates in various volunteer opportunities. These opportunities are generally for outside organizations, bothcharitable and community, at which NAWN members volunteer their time and efforts.

Charitable Projects - NAWN’s Charitable Project Committee organizes “giving back” opportunities in which members support local charities and organizations by donating needed items. These events are generally tied to socials and items are then donated to the designated program.

Beneficiary Research Committee - The Beneficiary Research Committee consists of a group of NAWN members that collect and evaluate applications from organizations that focus on women’s and children’s causes wishing to be selected as beneficiary to one of NAWN’s annual fundraising events.

NAWN also has Philanthropic Opportunities that allow you to give back to women and children within our area and beyond.

NAWN hosts two large charitable events and also participates year-round in charitable giving.
